Fluid & Condition Monitoring

Hydraulic System Cleaning & Flushing

Clean Hydraulics. Cleaner Oil. Better Reliability.

Contamination doesn't always announce itself.

Hydraulic systems can continue operating while contamination, debris and varnish build-up progressively damage pumps, valves, cylinders and other precision components.

By the time the symptoms become obvious, the damage may already have been done.

Bruce Marine provides hydraulic system cleaning and flushing using a dedicated, self-contained cleaning unit designed to remove contamination from hydraulic systems and onboard reservoirs.

And unlike simply changing the oil, we can test the system while we're cleaning it.

Clean it. Measure it. Prove it.

Why Clean a Hydraulic System?

Hydraulic systems depend on clean fluid.

Particles can circulate through the system repeatedly, passing through pumps, valves, motors and actuators and contributing to component wear.

Contamination can result from:

Component failure

Hose replacement

Repairs

Poor maintenance practices

Dirty filling equipment

Tank contamination

Environmental ingress

Wear particles

Degraded filters

Previous system damage

A hydraulic system can therefore become contaminated without anyone realising it.

And simply replacing the oil doesn't necessarily remove contamination from the tank, pipework and components.

Our Hydraulic Cleaning System

Bruce Marine operates a self-contained hydraulic cleaning unit that allows us to work directly on the hydraulic system.

Depending on the installation and cleaning requirement, we can clean:

Hydraulic Service Lines

Circulating cleaning fluid through service lines to help remove contamination trapped within the system.

Onboard Hydraulic Tanks

Cleaning and circulating fluid through the reservoir to remove accumulated contamination.

Hydraulic Circuits

Cleaning appropriate sections of the hydraulic system rather than relying solely on an oil change.

Components & Pipework

The cleaning strategy can be adapted around the equipment and system configuration.

The exact method and connections are assessed for each installation.

Pressure Pulsing for Varnish & Deposits

Hydraulic contamination isn't always simply loose particles.

Varnish and other deposits can build up within hydraulic systems, particularly where fluid has degraded or operating conditions encourage deposit formation.

Our cleaning unit incorporates a pressure-pulsing capability designed to help disturb and remove these deposits where the application and system configuration allow.

This gives us another tool when conventional circulation and filtration alone may not be sufficient.

We Can Test While We Clean

This is one of the key advantages of Bruce Marine's approach.

Our hydraulic cleaning equipment can be used alongside our Filtertechnik ParticlePal for live condition monitoring.

That means we can:

1. Establish the Starting Condition

Take a sample and determine the existing contamination level.

2. Start Cleaning

Circulate and filter the hydraulic system.

3. Monitor the Process

Take further samples during the cleaning process where appropriate.

4. Continue Until the Target Is Achieved

Use the cleanliness results to determine whether further cleaning is required.

5. Verify the Result

Produce a final cleanliness result to document the condition achieved.

We're not just saying the system is clean.

We can measure it.

Proven results that speak for themselves.
